Emmanuel Christopher, a Nigerian man who works as an Uber driver has reportedly returned the huge cash and other expensive valuables a passenger forgot in his car without receiving any rewards for his act of honesty.

A Facebook user, identified by her handle as @Lara Wise, who narrated this online disclosed that the Good Samaritan involved is a choir member in her church and tagged him as one who is ‘very committed to duty and family.’

According to Lara Wise, Christopher dropped a female passenger at Chicken Republic restaurant which is located in Wuse 2, Abuja. Shortly after, he discovered a big wallet in the back seat of his car.

The young man who had carried lots of passengers became confused about which of them owned the wallet. The driver then took a step further by opening the purse, only for him to discover heavy money in different currencies and denominations.

The purse was also said to have contained three Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, two were of Nigerian banks and one was a foreign bank card. The man also found three international passports and lots more.

Christopher was able to count over $3000 which equals One Million Two Hundred and Forty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Naira (1,247,400 Million Naira), in Nigerian currency.

Speaking to Lara about the encounter, the driver said as he sighted the valuables, many things ran through his mind including the family bills to settle.

“My mind spoke to me and I spoke back to my mind,” the driver said.

After battling with his deep thoughts, Christopher decided to return the purse to the rightful owner but became confused on how to go about it since the lady didn’t order the ride which would have made it easier to trace her via her telephone number.

The man of integrity glanced at the ATM card and saw the name ‘Mariam’ written on it. He then headed towards the Chicken Republic where the lady alighted and saw a group of ladies looking distressed.

Being able to recognize the physical appearance of his customer, he made a little investigation by asking which of them bears Mariam. After the confirmation, Christopher handed her complete properties back to her and she broke down in tears of joy.

The lady and her friends thanked him without offering any reward to him in appreciation for his rare stage of honesty. Even at that, Christopher didn’t regret his action as he cheered himself up for the bold step.

“Not a dime. She was only crying and shedding tears of joy and she thanked me but the peace I have inside me has paid me,” he said.
