Brittney Griner Released From Russian Custody In A Prisoner Swap
After moths of being held behind bars in Russia, WNBA star, Brittney Griner has finally been released from Russian prison.
On December 8, Brittney was released in a prison swap which involved international arms dealer, Viktor Bout.
According to sources, the swap deal was signed on December 1 after previous negotiations in Moscow. The swap took place in UAE.
Brittney Griner was arrested in Moscow, Russia, on February 27 this year. She was arrested on charges of drug possession.
Bout was arrested on 6 March 2008 in Thailand on terrorism charges by the Royal Thai Police in cooperation with American authorities and Interpol.
After signing a commutation order on December 1, President Joe Biden terminated Viktor Bout’s 25 years sentence.
