Popular Nollywood actress Ekene Umenwa and Ifeanyi Ogbodo Alex, her husband, have welcomed their first child together.

The arrival of the newborn baby was announced by the movie star via her Instagram page as she shared her pregnancy photoshoot, sparking reactions online.

In the photoshoot, Ekene donned in a blue and white attire, looking like the Virgin Mary, a revered figure in Christianity, known as the mother of Jesus and wife of Joseph.

Captioning the video, the actress disclosed the photoshoot theme was inspired by a “vision and attempt to honour Mother Mary’s maternal care and intercession”.

She wrote, “I am truly blessed by the Lord’s mercy. My pregnancy journey was a wonderful experience, and I give praise to the Blessed Trinity and honour to our Mother Mary, who stood by me throughout.”

“In my humble attempt to honour her maternal care and intercession, I was inspired by a vision she gave me while praying at the grotto. It brings me immense joy to be able to dress as Mother Mary, whom I hold dear. Although I feel unworthy to stand in her presence, her mercy has touched me deeply.”

It is worth noting that Ekene Umenwa and her spouse traditionally wedded as husband and wife on 16th April 2023. The duo did their white wedding on November 2023.
