A Nigerian mother has incited significant online backlash after allegedly using her son’s N800,000 for a church initiative and donating all household food items, with the exception of salt, as a “seed” offering.
This information came to light through a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the son, who recounted his ordeal.
He explained that his elder brother had initially provided him with N1 million to invest in a POS business. However, he chose to allocate N800,000 of that amount to his mother for a poultry venture, trusting that she would utilize the funds effectively.
To his astonishment, he later learned that his mother had taken the money to their village and invested it in the construction of a new church, where she was appointed to oversee operations.
Additionally, he was shocked to find that she had donated all the food supplies from their home to the church, retaining only salt.
In his post, he shared, “Good day sir, please I sincerely need your advice on what to do right now. My elder brother gave me N1 million to invest in my POS business, with plans to collect it during his final year (he’s in university). So I entrusted my mom with N800,000 to start a poultry business.”
“When my brother recently asked for the money, I only had the N200,000 I invested, and I was shocked to find out my mom and her pastor used the N800,000 to build a church branch in her village. She didn’t inform me, and I only found out through my uncle.”
“I’m lost and unsure what to do, especially after discovering that she also donated all the food I bought last Saturday. I’m considering moving out, but I’m only 20 years old, and I’m unsure about living alone.”
