Details of court proceedings emerge as EFCC arraigns Jude Okoye in viral video, singer Cynthia Morgan reacts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dragged Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of the defunct PSquare duo, before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The high-stakes arraignment revolves around money laundering allegations involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. Jude, alongside his company Northside Music Ltd, appeared before Justice Alexander Owoeye on a seven-count charge.

A newly surfaced video shows him arriving at the court premises, flanked by EFCC officials—a stark portrayal of a man now on the sharp edge of the law.

Channels TV detailed the courtroom proceedings, highlighting one charge that accused Jude and his company of acquiring a property at No. 5 Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, in 2022 for N850 million, despite knowing its connection to unlawful proceeds.

Another charge alleged that he funneled over $1 million through a bureau de change, dispersing it across multiple accounts to obscure its origins. Unfazed, Jude pleaded not guilty.

The prosecuting counsel, Larry Peters Aso, requested a trial date and urged the court to remand him in a correctional facility.

Defense counsel Inibehe Effiong, citing a pending bail application, requested that Jude remain in EFCC custody until the hearing.

Prosecutor Aso pushed back, highlighting overcrowded EFCC cells and insisting on his transfer to a correctional center.

Justice Owoeye scheduled the bail hearing for February 28 and set the trial for April 14. In a swift decision, he ordered Jude’s remand at the Ikoyi correctional facility.

Amid the legal drama, Cynthia Morgan, who previously accused Jude of withholding her royalties and stifling her career, seized the moment.

With a mix of irony and vindication, she took to social media, throwing a sharp jab, questioning how Jude’s once-private feud with his brothers, Paul and Peter, had escalated into a full-blown legal battle.

She wrote; “Matter wey person suppose settle for house.God forbid (Tudiyi)”.
