Michael Jackson’s sock from 1997 tour sold for over $8,000

Michael Jackson’s stage-worn sock from his 1997 concert in Nîmes, France, has been sold for over $8,000 at a French auction.
The white athletic sock, decorated with rhinestones, was found by a technician near his dressing room after the show. It was part of the outfit Jackson wore during his “HIStory World Tour.”
Jackson wore similar socks during performances of “Billie Jean,” where he famously displayed his moonwalk and signature moves. The sock, now stained and aged, remains valuable to collectors.
Auctioneer Aurore Illy described it as a cult item for fans.
In 2009, a Macau resort bought Jackson’s glove from his first moonwalk performance for $350,000. A hat worn before that show was sold in Paris for over $80,000 in 2023.
Michael Jackson died in 2009 at age 50 from a drug overdose. His legacy remains strong despite past controversies.
