Nigerian music executive, Michael Collins Ajere, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has taken to social media to dish key tips to up-and-coming artistes about how they can get noticed and signed by music labels.
He shared the valuable lesson on Twitter just a day after signing his latest artiste, Bayanni (formerly known as Zhenoboy) to Mavin Records.
According to Don Jazzy, anybody who wishes to get the attention of label owners like himself would have to showcase their talent on social media.
He revealed that in 2019, he personally sent a message to Bayanni, Boy Spyce and Ayra, Starr, his latest signees, because he saw their work on their pages and loved what he heard.
He shared a short note and captioned: ‘‘Dear upcoming artists. Pls read and share the message in black.”
Don Jazzy wrote; ”Dear upcoming artists,
From these 3 screenshots you can see that I reached out to Ayra, Boyspyce and Bayanni myself. I won’t have reached out to them if I didn’t see a sample of what they can do on their instagram pages.
For the umpteenth time, showcase yourself on your page. I know it seems uncool to post a lot. But then again you would be an uncool artist if it’s only your family that gets to hear your beautiful music till you give up.
Love from The Don.”
