“Nigerians don’t believe I am on the same level as American artistes” – Burna Boy

World renowned Afrobeats singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has let an outcry that most of his home-based fans still do not believe he’s on the same level as American singers.

In an interview with Los Angeles Times, the self acclaimed Adrican Giant bemoaned how many Nigerians often rate him below up-and-coming American rappers.

Speaking further, he stated that many compatriots usually disregard his status because of how he sounds and they can’t imagine how a person who sounds like he does would be above an American artiste.

According to him, his forthcoming album “I Told Them…” is a clap back at critics and detractors who has downgraded him both at the beginning and middle of his career.

Burna Boy said …

To this day, there’s many Nigerians who can tell you an American rapper who just started their career, and they’ll say they’re bigger than Burna Boy. They don’t understand it. They’ll say, ‘There’s no way someone who talks like me, can even be on the same level as an American artist.”
